A Case Study on Structural Serviceability Subjected to Railway-Induced Vibrations at TOD Developed Metro Depot

As a sustainable mode of metro-development strategy, transit-oriented development (TOD) is rapidly growing to finance the transport infrastructure investment. The main negative consequence constructing residential buildings directly over metro depots railway-induced vibration, that may affect structural serviceability. residents feel uncomfortable, as trains start running very early in morning and finish daily operations late at night. In order evaluate level human comfort subject special situation, case study was provided this paper. Directed by academic review, there were four common evaluation methods, with difference indexes describe influence vibrations. Therefore, measurement campaign conducted both acceleration velocity sensors simultaneously installed same points, reduce conversion accuracy. results show are certain differences between methods assessing vibration comfort, but considering most adverse effects together, over-track building particular TOD-developed depot can ensure 90% occupants would not be highly annoyed effect on TOD high-level vibrations cause interruptions sleep. Among them, rest 17% bedrooms seventh floor, make it difficult for 9% fall asleep. index suggested consider more factors related sleep difficulties awake threshold values.
